Astaria is a MUD-class fantasy game. Users move around Astaria as if it were "life", and join in guilds and clans to further benefit each other. There really is no "point" to Astaria - it's just life as an Astarian. There are quests defined in the game - adventures that adventurers can embark upon for added benefits and resources, not to mention prestige.

Players are ranked by player level and guild level, up to a maximum of 36 and 20 (36/20), respectively. After a short while as a newbie, players need to join guilds in order to continue the game properly, although you could theoretically play forever without joining a guild. The guilds in Astaria are:

  • Bard
  • Cleric
  • Fighter
  • Mage
  • Paladin
  • Psion
  • Thief

Besides guilds, members of different guilds also join to form clans. Although there are both guild wars and clan wars, often times clan members are closer to each other because they are player created. There are only seven guilds, so there are many many players in each guild. However, in a clan, there are usually less people, so players make relationships with each other more. Players must be 5/5 before they can join clans.
