Zero
is a skinny, medium-sized boy with parted blond hair, from under which a pair of kind, blue eyes looks out at you.
Under his hair just above the left eye is an odd, unmistakably "Ø"
shaped scar. His hair appears to have been brushed aside so as to deliberately
reveal the scar, almost as if he's wearing a badge of honour. Jason is reliable and loyal to his superiors, always
following the commander's orders whether in battle or just in the school. An
aura of confidence surrounds him, as recently he has been crucial to
turning-point plays in battle. He projects a kind demeanor to all launchies,
perhaps the result of being treated well by older soldiers when he was a
launchie.
He is wearing the sky blue
uniform with red stripes of Leopard
Army.
Jason was raised through a difficult childhood.
His parents, both IF soldiers, died in a military incident enshrouded in
mystery and secrecy. He was adopted
by an IF officer and his wife.
As Jason was only three years old at the time of his family's death, he
adjusted to life with his new parents quickly. However, the deaths of his parents and brother had taken its toll on Jason, and his grades in school
dropped off the scale.
Eventually, though, he learned to be strong, and found a way to cope
with the absence of his biological family. His new father expected much of Jason, and he soon became an expert in his class at computer hacking.
He also excelled in math and physics.
Jason received the nickname "Zero" from his classmates because of the
odd circle-shaped scar with a transversal through it just above his left eye,
a final memory of the accident that took his family.
Growing up with a devastating loss, Jason developed the ability to
adjust and cope with the loss of close people, and to continue on when nothing went right. So when the IF took him away to Battle School, Jason
went prepared for the loss of the second group of people he ever cared for.
Zero made several friends in his C
launch group (and
later D
launch group
for failing a crucial test in military history). He was transferred
to Hound Army at age seven.
It was here that he finally found someplace where he truly fit in, and brought out the most in him.
Serving in the Toon C and under the command of a good and caring commander, he was happy.
Just as he was settling into a new life, they changed everything.
The Hound
and Raptor
armies were disbanded, and the soldier deck was shuffled. Zero was transferred to
Centipede, under the command of a
former Hound
toon leader.
At first he was assigned to Toon D -
along with a bunch of new soldiers. The joke of the army, Jaeden, the toon
leader, got everyone together for extra practices and made Toon D a united group
of young guns. Zero even became the toon's second-in-command, but it was all to
end too soon.
After a brutal loss to Phoenix Army, the toon leaders of A and C went at each
other's throats, and all who had been friends only an hour earlier became mortal
enemies. The commander had the toons shuffled, and Zero was reassigned to Toon C
under command of one of the roughest (and craziest) toon leaders he had ever
seen.
Tensions were relieved when Centipede
beat Phoenix in a battle, settling the two rival teams into a 1-all tie.
The next battle with Phoenix
was a devastating loss to Centipede.
Although both sides took heavy casualties, Centipede
lost its commander and toon leaders early on, and, at the end, it was a
few members of Phoenix
versus Zero, the last man standing. The valiant standoff, coupled with him
taking out Phoenix
commander Spider, boosted Zero's self-confidence.
Later, with Piccolo's graduation and Jaeden being traded off
to Salamander,
Zero sought friendship with new launchie arrivals rather than his toon mates, as
he was moved from toon to toon under a shaky leadership.
Eventually, borth he and Jaeden were traded over to fill up Leopard
Army as the armies of the BattleSchool were shuffled around again. A friend from
Centipede
took over as commander of Leopard
, and Jaeden was given another Toon D to command, to which Zero was assigned.
After being promoted to second-in-command again, Jaeden himself was promoted to
command of Rat
Army.
Zero was shuffled over to Toon C. Just as well, for he
doesn't really enjoy commanding and making decisions. He's more of a person who
follows orders, and makes crucial turning-point plays in battles. He proved his
worth in a battle with Rabbit
Army, when he nailed an enemy soldier at a Rabbit
stronghold 99 meters away, starting with a leg, then an arm, then the
head, and finally the body just as his commander, Trigger, was about to give the
order to rush their position.
